When you’re making a major decision, like about which type of apartment you actually want to rent, there are a lot of factors that you’re going to have to consider. One of them being whether or not you want to go for a furnished apartment. You’re going to find that apartments like these are a bit of a mixed bag in terms of what they offer however, and you’re going to find that they are really only for a certain type of audience. So you have to weigh the positive and negative aspects of renting them, to really test out whether or not they are going to be the perfect choice for you.
What you’re going to find when it comes to furnished apartments however, is that you’re always assured of having plenty of options. Just as when you are looking for any other type of place to rent, you’re going to find that these are readily available, and can actually be ideal targets for vacation rentals. There are always going to be short term furnished apartments out there at any vacation hotspot, and they can be a great investment if you’re looking for the perfect place so that you can live in a location for just a week or a month.
Here are some of the most common arguments on both sides as to why furnished apartments can be the best choice, or one that you may want to reconsider:
1) They’re easy and quick for anybody to move into.
A furnished apartment means that it comes with literally everything that somebody would need to live there straight away. You have all the major appliances that are necessary. But they also feature standard furniture and amenities that normally you would have to bring yourself. That’s going to include things like couches, beds, televisions and the like. That makes them ideal for just moving in, and especially temporary rentals, because of how easy they are to transition to using.
2) However, usually they come with pretty ridiculous security deposits.
You’re being trusted with a heck of a lot more than just the apartment in this case, and you’re going to find that it’s pretty easy to lose out on your deposit because of that. You’re going to find that in just about any situation the major problem that you’re going to encounter is simply that furniture damages easily, and any damage that you do is something that you’re going to have to pay for. That’s not a hassle that everybody wants, and it can be a factor on why you may want to turn these down.
3) Furnished apartments make great vacation rentals.
Let’s say that you’ve always wanted to stay in Southern California, or you’ve always wanted to go to Florida or a similar type of great vacation hotspot. You’re going to find that it might be great to just live as one of the people for a week or two, and that’s where these apartments can be great. All you have to bring are your clothes, but you get to stay in a great apartment that’s fully furnished, features everything that you need to live comfortably, and really allows you to feel at home.
4) They don’t give you as much freedom for really making them feel like your home.
The reason that these are such great short term apartments is that you can move in, stay a while without having to worry about your furniture, and then move back out, again without the worry of furniture. But the problem with them is in the long term. You’re really not able to do a whole lot with the apartment, considering that you’re really just leasing the furniture as well. That doesn’t give you as many options for making the home your own, and that’s a big loss with your own place.
These are great points that you can use to gauge whether or not you want to go furnished or if you would like an apartment that you have to furnish yourself. But either way, it gives you a chance to explore your options and figure out what type of home you would rather have. But don’t be afraid to at least give some cheap furnished apartments a look, so that you can explore whether or not they do look like the right choice for you.
